Communication Ports
What's this?
PRASAR UCS supports two external USB ports — USB1, USB2 on the fascia of SPARK200. Both USB ports can
be used as COM Ports by connecting the USB to COM Converters in the “External USB Ports (Device Port) 3.0”.
A Communication Port (USB to COM) is used for the following facilities:
Programming PRASAR UCS using a PC
SMDR Reports
•SMDR Online
SMDR Posting
PMS Interface (see PRASAR UCS Hospitality System Manual)
CAS Interface (SMDR Posting)
Hotel-Motel Activity Log (see PRASAR UCS Hospitality System Manual)
A USB to COM Port is necessary for configuring PRASAR UCS using a PC, whereas for other above listed
facilities, USB to COM Port may or may not be used

How to configure
In order for each of the above listed facilities to work, Communication Port (USB1 to COM or USB2 to COM) must
be assigned first as the 'Destination Port' and the attributes of the USB to COM Port of PRASAR UCS and the
Communication Port of the PC to which it is connected must programmed to match.
Communication Port as Destination Port
USB to COM Port can be assigned as Destination Port using Jeeves. For instructions, refer to:

You may assign the Destination Port as Communication Port (USB1 to COM or USB2 to COM) to the
facilities as mentioned above, but at a time only one facility will be served by each Communication Port.
The facility assigned first will be served first.
Communication Port Attributes
The functioning of the USB to COM Port is controlled by the following attributes:
Speed in bps.
Number of data bits.
Number of stop bits.
•Parity
106. PMS can be interfaced on the LAN/WAN Port. For SMDR-Posting LAN/WAN Port can be used.
