theMRenvironment.
14. Followallmanufacturerinstructionsfortheproperoperationandmaintenanceof
physiologicmonitoringorothersimilarelectronicequipmentintendedforuseduringMR
procedures.
15. ElectricaldevicesthatdonotappeartobeoperatingproperlyduringtheMRprocedure
shouldberemovedfromthepatientimmediately.
16. Closely
monitorthepatientduringtheMRprocedure.Ifthepatientreportssensationsof
heatingorotherunusualsens ation,discontinuetheMRprocedureimmediatelyand
performathoroughassessmentofthesituation.
17. RFsurfacecoil decouplingfailurescancauselocalizedRFpowerdepositionlevelstoreach
excessivelevels.TheMRsystemoperator
willrecognizesuchafailureasasetofconcentric
semicirclesinthetissueontheassociatedMRimageorasanunusualamountofimage
non‐uniformityrelatedtothepositionoftheRFcoil.
Theadoptionoftheseguidelineswillhelptoensurethatpatientsafetyismaintained,especially
asmoreconductivematerialsandelectronically‐activateddevicesareusedinassociationwith
MRprocedures.
