4.2.10 Motor temperature monitoring
Selection of the sensor
type
•
Continuous temperature sensor KTY
– “Linear” temperature sensor in the motor winding (standard for Lenze motors MDXKX, MDXQA a nd MDXMA)
•
PTC thermistor
– PTC thermistor with defined tripping temperature (acc. to DIN 44081 and DIN 44082)
•
Thermal contact TKO
– Thermostat/normally-closed contact
Other monitoring KTY, PTC and TKO do not offer complete protection. To improve the monitoring, Lenze recommends the use of a bimetal rel a y.
Alternative monitoring Comparators (CMP1 ... CMP3) monitor and a time element (TRANS1 ... TRANS4) limits the motor current for small speeds or motor
standstill.
This function can be implemented by interconnecting the corresponding function blocks.
Reactions different, depending on the tempera ture monitoring. E 7-291
Stop!
Do not connect an external voltage to the inputs.

Notes
•
Monitoring is active in the default
setting.
•
If resolver (X7) and encoder (X8) are
operated together:
– Connect KTY only at one connector
(X7 or X8)
– Do not c onnect KTY connection of
the other female connector
