Carton Chain
Carton Chain Base Setting
If the carton chain base setting is out of position, it is necessary to adjust the
base setting back into position. The base setting in turn sets the carton chain in
alignment with the other processing areas.
To make a base setting, the carton machine must be in JOG mode. The carton
chain base setting must match the marks on the machine (These types of marks
are also used on the driver chain and the discharge conveyor chain.) If one of
these two chains is set to its mark, the other chains must also be set to theirs.
Both the fixed and movable side of the carton machine have a red mark on the
inner bar (The red mark is pointed to by the arrow below). A drive of the outer
chain (5) must be positioned on this mark. The position of the inner chain’s driver
(6) depends on the size of the cartons.
The marks are red and shown in the illustration below with the arrow. They are
sometimes referred to as the mechanical zero point of the machine. For the
carton chain, the drivers of the fixed chains must be on this mark.
