Transporting and Shipping
Transporting Cartons
The organic paper fibers of the carton material are strongly affected by the
relative humidity and temperature of the air. They may bulge or shrink greatly to
their longitudinal axis. Optimal storage for carton material is at 20°C and 50-60%
relative humidity.
Shipping Cartons
Cartons should always be shipped unbundled and not strapped. They should be
packed so they are standing in the outer cartons on a side edge. The outer
carton should not be filled too tightly, since the scoring could be damaged if too
much force is applied to it.

Figure 3.4
The outer carton must be vented and there is a free space of at least 1 cm
between the top carton and the outside carton. An intermediate carton insert
layer should also be placed between each layer of the cartons.
