Carton Chain
Tensioning Carton Chain Drive Belts
The carton chain is driven by toothed belts. The belts are kept at tension by
tension rollers. If the belt tension is reduced too much, it can be readjusted with
the rollers. The tension on these belts must be tested at regular intervals.
If the tension is reduced more than is permissible, there is a danger of a belt
skipping (moving a tooth while the machine is in operation). If the belt does skip a
tooth like this, a new base setting is required to move the drive to a defined
position. Production is no longer possible using the machine with a drive
belt out of adjustment!
Adjusting Carton Chain Drive Belts Tension
These belts are positioned on both sides of the carton machine. They are used to
transfer force from the drive shaft to individual sprockets.
Adjusting the Tension
• Loosening the fastening bolts.
• Move the tension roller down to tension the belt.
• The tension on the belt must be adjusted so that the belt cannot be raised
up from the toothed disks.
