8| Once the pressure has been reduced, shake
the pressure cooker and open carefully.
Tip If the cooking pressure for cooking level
2 is exceeded, the pressure control device will
respond audibly to indicate that the energy
supply should be reduced.
9| REDUCING PRESSURE
AND COOLING
Releasing steam from the pot
Do not reduce pressure using methods 2 or 3 if
cooking foaming or expanding foods (e.g. legumes,
meat broth, grains). Boiled potatoes burst for
instance, when steamed off using these methods.
9.1| METHOD 1 – USE RESIDUAL HEAT
1| Remove the pressure cooker from the stove.
After a short time the pressure indicator
will go down.
2| If the pressure indicator
16
including the pin
has completely disappeared into the lid han-
dle, slowly push the slider to OPEN.
3| Any remaining steam will escape.
4| When no more steam comes out, shake the
pot and open it.
9.2| METHOD 2 – SLOW STEAM
RELEASE
(automatic steam release – see Image A)
1| Slowly push the slider in stages towards the
OPEN position.
2| Depending on the position of the slider, the
steam will escape slowly or quickly.
3| If the pressure indicator, including the pin,
has disappeared completely in the lid handle,
shake the pot and open it.
9.3| METHOD 3 –
NO ESCAPING STEAM
1| Put the pressure cooker in the sink and run
cold water over the lid.
2| If the pressure indicator, including the pin,
has disappeared completely in the lid handle,
shake the pot and open it.
CAUTION
Risk of burns during quick release
of steam
When releasing steam quickly using the slider
16
or under running water, there is a risk of burns
being caused by hot steam or cooked food.
•
Give the pressure cooker a shake before
opening.
•
Always keep hands, head and body out of the
danger area - above the lid
16
and the side
safety slot
10
on the rim of the lid.
10| OPENING THE
PRESSURE COOKER
OPENING AFTER COOKING
(see image series E)
1| First release the pressure as described in Sec-
tion 9 . The residual pressure safety device
ensures that the pot can only be opened
when fully depressurised, i.e. when the pin is
no longer visible. If the pin remains visible,
the residual pressure safety device has been
triggered.
The pressure must be released before
opening.
2| Slowly push the slider to OPEN.
3| Shake the pot.
4| Hold the handle
3
of the pot
1
with the
left hand.
