Initial Issue
008-702 Area 3 Jam RAP
The Control Logic has detected the signal Feed Out Sensed (L) +5 VDC at an incorrect time.
This signal can originate from the Tray 2 Feed Out Sensor or the Tray 3 Feed Out Sensor.
Initial Actions
• Open the Feeder Chute on the lower right side of the machine and remove any paper.
• Ensure that the front and rear Feeder Chute magnets are present.
• Check that the Feeder Chute closes completely.
Procedure
Put a sheet of paper in the Paper Feeder for Tray 2 to cover the Feed Out Sensor. Close the
Feeder Chute. Enter diagnostic code [DI-A6]. The display indicates a “0”.

Go to Flag 3. Check the wires for an open or a short circuit to ground. The wires are
good.

Repair the wires.
Go to Flag 1. Check the wires for an open or a short circuit to ground. If the wires are
good, Replace Feed Out Sensor for Tray 2 Paper Feeder (PL 13.5). If the problem contin-
ues, replace the Feeder PWB (PL 13.4).
Remove the paper from the Paper Feeder for Tray 2. Put a sheet of paper in the Paper Feeder
for Tray 3 to cover the Feed Out Sensor. Close the Feeder Chute. Enter diagnostic code [DI-
B6]. The display indicates a “0”.

Go to Flag 4. Check the wires for an open or a short circuit to ground. The wires are
good.

Repair the wires.
Go to Flag 2. Check the wires for an open or a short circuit to ground. If the wires are
good, replace the Feed Out Sensor for Tray 3 Paper Feeder (PL 13.5). If the problem con-
tinues, replace the Feeder PWB (PL 13.4).
Go to Flag 1. Check the wires for an open or short circuit to ground. The wires are good.

Repair the wires.
Replace the Feed Out Sensor for Tray 2 Paper Feeder (PL 13.5). If the problem continues,
replace the Feeder PWB (PL 13.4).
