Repairs and Adjustments
Initial Issue
Replacement
1. Install the Front / Rear Cable Assembly (Figure 2).

CAUTION
Verify that the cable is not twisted and that the Cable Assembly is not contacting any surround-
ing components or wires.
2. Reinstall the Full-rate Carriage (REP 6.21).
3. Move the Full-rate Carriage by hand to verify proper operation.
4. Perform a Full/Half-rate Carriage Parallel Adjustment (ADJ 6.2).
5. Reinstall the Rear Cover (REP 6.4).
6. Reinstall the Right Cover (REP 6.2).
7. Reinstall the Left Cover (REP 6.3).
8. Reinstall the Control Panel Assembly (REP 6.23).
9. Reinstall the Platen Glass (REP 6.1).

Removal
WARNING
To avoid personal injury or shock, do not perform repair activities with the power switch
on or electrical power applied to the machine.
1. Switch off the machine power and disconnect the machine Power Cord.
2. Remove the Carriage Motor (Figure 1).

Replacement
1. Perform the procedure for removal in reverse.

Insert the cable end into
the groove in the
bracket and route the
cable as shown

Wrap the cable around the pulley
five times. Make sure the sphere in
the middle of the cable is positioned
in the groove in the pulley

Attach Spring to
the end of the
cable

Disconnect the connector
2
Disconnect the
Spring
3
Remove the screws (3) and
the Carriage Motor by moving
it in the direction indicated
