IQ14 Process Direction Bands, Streaks, and Smears RAP
Procedure
The defect occurs every print (letter size).

The defect occurs every second print (letter size).
YN
If the defect occurs intermittently, examine the Developer Housings for evidence of
toner clumping. If clumping is found, replace the Developer Housing (PL 6.2).
Remove the Belt Cleaner (PL 7.1). Inspect the cleaning blade and Mylar seal for damage.
Clean or replace as required.
Go to the 009-704 RAP to check the function of the Belt Cleaner.
If the Belt Cleaner is OK, check the IBT Belt (PL 7.2) for damage or contamination. Clean
or replace as required.
The defect is a process direction deletion.
YN
Remove the Fuser Assembly (PL 8.1). Examine the Heat Roll and Pressure Roll for dam-
age or contamination. Clean or replace as required (PL 8.3).
Adjust the Fuser Nip (ADJ 10.1).
If the Fuser is OK, replace the Copy/Print Cartridge (PL 5.1).
Enter diagnostic mode (GP 1). Access the Pattern Printing routine. Print a copy of the 20%
coverage pattern for all colors. The defect is present for all colors.
YN
Replace the Developer Housing (PL 6.2) for the affected color.
Remove the ROS (PL 5.1). Check the ROS window for damage or contamination. Clean or
replace as required.
If the problem remains, replace the Copy/Print Cartridge (PL 5.1). If this does not resolve the
problem, replace the ROS (PL 5.1).

Initial Actions
Replace the paper in use with fresh, dry paper of the correct specification.
Procedure
Check the following:
• Check the Temperature Sensor (PL 8.2) for contamination or incorrect mounting. Clean,
repair, or replace as required.
• Check the Heat Roll and Pressure Roll (PL 8.3) for damage, toner offsetting, or incorrect
installation. Clean, repair, or replace as required.
• Check/adjust the Fuser Nip (ADJ 10.1).
