Starting a Local Management Session
To start a local management session on the switch, perform the following
procedure:
1. Connect the RJ-45 connector on the management cable to the console
port on the switch. The Console port is located on the back panel on
the AT-GS900M series switch.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to an RS-232 port on a terminal or
PC with a terminal emulator program.
3. Configure the terminal or terminal emulator program as follows:
Baud rate: 9600 bps
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Parity: None
Flow control: None
4. Press Enter on the terminal or terminal emulator program on the PC.
You are prompted for a user name and password.
5. Enter a user name and password.
If this is the initial management session of the switch, enter “manager”
as the user name “friend” as the password. The user name and
password are case-sensitive.
When your login is successful, the command line prompt appears as
shown in Figure 1.
