Monitoring a Patient
Using the Start Once Feature
If using the NIBP Module, whenever Internal NIBP is currently selected as the BP Source (refer
to Figure 5-12), the user is able to acquire a single (one-time) NIBP measurement at any time
during a Monitoring Session.
The Start Once feature is also available when the Internal NIBP is set to Automatic mode; the
next automatic NIBP measurement will be activated at the set time.
Note
When performing this procedure, it is recommended the BP parameter is selected for display.
To Acquire a Single NIBP Measurement
1. Make sure Internal NIBP is selected as the BP Source.
2. Check the NIBP Cuff is positioned correctly on the patient’s arm and connected
correctly to the Starling Monitor.
3. Access the Main menu, then from
Session Controls & Settings
(BP sub-menu) choose
Start Once
OR
From the BP parameter drop-down menu, tap Start Once - see Figure 5-15.
Acquisition of the NIBP measurement commences; in the Real-time Values area the
NIBP parameter is now seen to be flashing.
On completion, the acquired NIBP measurement is displayed.
Note
If Internal NIBP was set to Automatic Mode prior to acquiring the measurement, Automatic Mode
will now continue.
