Protection Against Ingress of Liquids
Protection Against Ingress of Liquids
The Starling Monitor is protected against the ingress of liquids in accordance with the IEC
60259 safety standard. The system is classified as having an ingress protection rating of IXP0.
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
The Starling system complies with the EMC standard IEC 60601-1-2 for medical electrical
equipment.
Electrical medical equipment needs special precautions regarding EMC, and must be
used according to the EMC information provided in the accompanying documents
supplied with the Starling system.
Do not operate the Starling Monitor in the presence of electromagnetic interference.
Interference may be caused by electrosurgery, diathermy, magnetic resonance imaging
or other equipment.
Portable and mobile RF communications equipment may affect operation of this device.

Biocompatibility
The disposable Starling Sensors, NIBP cuffs and SPO
2
sensors for use with the Starling system
comply with the ISO-10993-1 standard, as follows:

CAUTION
To avoid damage to the Starling Monitor and its accessories (including the Starling Patient Cable,
the NIBP hose and cuff), avoid entrance of liquids during use and cleaning.
CAUTION
To ensure the Starling Monitor is protected from EMC interference, users should always observe
the precautions below.
