Operating Modes
Operating Modes
The Starling system has five operating modes (
Startup
,
Idle
,
Browsing, Monitoring
and
Pause
),
each described below.
Startup Mode
After turning on power to the Starling Monitor, the system boot-up process commences. (Refer
to System Startup Procedure on page 4-8). On completion, the Welcome Screen is displayed
and the system automatically enters Idle Mode.
Idle Mode
The system will remain in Idle mode until such time as a command is initiated by the user.
Browsing Mode
In Browsing mode, the user is able to review monitored data and browse through a patient’s
Monitored Session(s). The on-screen display of this data is in accordance with the parameter
values and preferred view options currently selected by the user.

When in Browsing Mode, the Trends area is automatically expanded to full-width view.
Monitoring Mode
Monitoring mode is actively initiated by the user. Whenever the Start Session button is tapped,
the system automatically enters this mode, in which measurement data is actively acquired
in real time. For a detailed explanation, see Monitoring a Patient on page 5-10.
The on-screen display of this data is in accordance with the parameter values currently
selected by the user for display - as well as the user’s preferred view options.
