Table A-3 Starling System Troubleshooting - Warning Messages
Message Reason or Cause Solution
Diagnosis:
CO is extremely high and a
pacemaker is active on the
patient.
Cause:
The patient has a Pacemaker
which can result in interruption in
the Starling signal.
Note: Usually Pacemaker activity
will not affect the Starling signal
unless it is a Unipolar Pacemaker,
or there are External Pacemaker
activities which can result in a
distorted Bioreactance signal.
If there is a relatively high CI reported by the
system:
Verify that the Pacemaker lead distance from
the Starling Sensors is no less than 2.5
inches (6 cm).
If not:
Replace the Starling Sensors with new
Sensors and make sure they are positioned
more than 2.5 inches (6 cm) from the external
pacemaker percutaneous lead.
See Attaching Starling Sensors on page 5-6.
Battery Low, Please Connect to
Main Power Supply.
Reason:
The battery supply is low and is
under 10% of its capacity.
Cause:
The device was not charged for
a long period of time.
Connect the Starling Monitor to a mains power
wall outlet as soon as possible to recharge the
batteries.
See Connecting the AC Power Cable on page 4-7.
