Electrical Safety
For details of the electrical safety standards to which the Starling system complies, refer to
the information provided in Table 1-1.
Electrical Requirements
Electrical installation of the Starling system must meet all current local, state, and national
electrical codes and be in accordance with the requirements specified in this user guide (see
below).
Accordingly, the system requires a line supply of 100 to 240 VAC, 2A, 50-60 Hz, single phase.
The Starling Monitor is equipped with an internal backup battery (rechargeable Smart Lithium
Ion Battery Pack - 14.8Vdc). The backup battery is charged automatically whenever mains
power to the Starling Monitor is ON.
In the event of power down or interruption in the mains power supply during Patient Monitoring,
the internal backup battery will sustain power to the system for up to 6 hours (see
Electricity
Power Failure on page 1-17).
Note
For an explanation of the battery status indicators displayed on the Monitor’s Control Panel, refer to
Table 2-2 on page 2-16.
The Starling Monitor is fitted with two fuses (2A), located in a fuse housing on the rear panel
(shown in Figure 2-7 on page 2-12).
Note
For fuse replacement, refer to the Fuse Replacement Procedure on page 6-10.
WARNING
Do not open system covers!
The Starling Monitor has no user-serviceable parts. Only replacement of fuses by the user is
permitted.
