Monitoring a Patient
Responding to an Alert
Whenever the Audible Alert is set to ON, in the event that an Alert is triggered, a continuous
high-pitched beep sounds to alert the user to the situation; a message flashes on the screen.
Note
Figure 5-30 shows an Alert message, warning of corrective action required regarding placement of
Starling
Sensors, connection of
Starling
Patient Cable, or Connectivity.
To Respond to an Alert
1. Observe the displayed message regarding the cause of the Alert.
2. Tap the Silence Alert button.
The icon in the Controls toolbar indicates the Alert Silenced status.
A 2-minute countdown begins.
3. Take the necessary corrective action, as applicable.
In this example, position Sensors correctly and check cable connections.
The icon in the Controls toolbar returns to the Alert On status.
Note
In the event that after the 2-minute countdown the cause of the Alert has not been rectified, the
Audible Alert will sound again.
