Note
In the event that the battery charge level falls to 10% or lower, a warning message is displayed.
In the event of malfunction, or for replacement of the battery pack, it is necessary to contact
a Baxter Service Center for assistance - refer to the details provided in Battery Replacement
on page 6-12.
Battery Power Mode
Whenever the Starling Monitor is disconnected from the mains power, the batteries
automatically power the unit so that the user should not experience any interruption in the
Monitoring Session.
The battery status indicator (see Table 2-2) reflects that the system currently operates in
battery mode and is dependent on battery capacity.
In this mode of operation, when fully-charged, the batteries can provide up to 6 hours of power.
To fully-charge the batteries when depleted, it is necessary to connect the Monitor to the
mains power for approximately 4 hours.
If the battery charge level falls below 5%, to protect the Monitor and the monitored data, the system will
shut down automatically (without prompting the user).
In order to prevent the interruption of a Monitoring Session or loss of data, working in Battery
Power Mode is only recommended for short periods of time (for example, during transport of the
patient) and not for routine monitoring.
