C-6 Starling Monitor - User Guide
NIBP Module
Ensure that the air hose from the Starling Monitor to the cuff is not compressed, crimped or
damaged.
The midpoint of the patient’s upper arm should be supported at heart level for proper
measurement accuracy. When the cuff is below heart level, measurement results may be
higher and when the cuff is above heart level, measurement results may be lower than
comparative results obtained at heart level.
Note
The NIBP Module is designed to work with SunTech cuffs and hoses. The use of cuffs and hoses not
supplied by Baxter or SunTech may compromise performance and accuracy.
Note
The initial inflation pressure is selected by the user via the
Starling
Monitor Main Menu shown in
Figure 3-3 on page 3-5 (Session Controls & Settings; Internal NIBP Initial Inflation options), unless
automatically specified by the NIBP patient population mode (Neonate, Pediatric).
Figure C-1 NIBP Cuff Placement
Using an NIBP cuff that is of incorrect size may give false and/or misleading Starling monitoring results.
