Use of Accessories and Disposables
Prior to use and attachment of a Starling Sensor, check the package carefully for signs
of damage. Check the expiry date is valid.
Do not use Starling Sensors if the package integrity appears jeopardized.
(For example, the package is not completely sealed, is open, or damaged.)
After opening the package, examine the Starling Sensors and do not use if it appears
cracked or damaged in any visible way.
Do not use a Starling Sensor if it was dropped prior to, or during, positioning.
Do not apply a Starling Sensor to skin that is not intact or that shows signs of infection,
allergic conditions, burns, etc.
To ensure secure adhesion of the Starling Sensor, the skin area should be prepared as
described in Skin Preparation on page 5-5.
Dispose of used Starling Sensors in accordance with hospital protocol (HealthCare
Waste Policy) and local safety regulations.

The following recommended precautions are to ensure safe handling and reliable operation of the
Starling Sensors:
