2-2 Starling Monitor - User Guide
Overview
The non-invasive acquisition of data is achieved by way of a set of four specially-designed
Starling Sensors. These are disposable accessories applied to the patient’s body and
connected to the Starling Monitor via the customized Starling Patient Cable.
Additionally, use of the Starling Monitor provides three methods by which a patient’s Blood
Pressure (BP) readings can be acquired. These are as follows:
Use of the optional NIBP Module.
Manual entry of BP readings by the user.
Connection of a third-party external Patient Monitor (Philips or GE).
User interaction with the Monitor is via an easy-to-read touch screen display - this, together
with short-cut buttons, drop-down menus and navigation tabs provide intuitive control of all
data monitoring and reviewing processes.
For enhanced visual clarity, the screen layout has clearly-defined areas showing different
views of the selected parameter values. Moreover, a choice of pre-defined display templates
enables the user to select a preferred display option, as required.
