8.3.3 Replacing rear fan modules
8.3.3.1 Required tools

8.3.3.2 Preliminary steps
Before replacing a rear fan module, perform the following steps:
Ê Locate the desired server as described in section "Locating the defective
server" on page 64.
Ê When working on a rack-mounted server, extend it out of the rack as
described in section "Extending the server out of the rack" on page 76.
If further required, remove the server from the rack as described in section
"Removing the server from the rack" on page 77.
Ê Open the side / top cover as described in section "Removing the top cover"
on page 79 (rack server) or "Removing the side cover" on page 88 (tower
server).
Ê Locate the defective fan using the onboard Local Diagnostic LEDs as
described in section "Onboard indicators and controls" on page 951.
8.3.3.3 Removing rear fan modules
Ê Remove the defective rear fan module(s) as described in section "Removing
rear fan modules" on page 396.
8.3.3.4 Installing rear fan modules
Ê Replace the defective rear fan module(s) as described in section "Installing
rear fan modules" on page 392.
