Expansion cards and backup units
9.2.1.7 Connecting a backup unit to the expansion card
Ê If applicable, connect a BBU or FBU to the expansion card as described in
sections "Installing a BBU" on page 542 or "Installing an FBU" on page 550.
9.2.1.8 Concluding steps
Perform the following procedures to complete the task:
Ê Reinstall the air duct as described in section "Installing the system air duct"
on page 102.
Ê Close the side / top cover as described in section "Mounting the top cover"
on page 115 (rack server) or "Mounting the side cover" on page 122 (tower
server).
Ê When working on a rack-mounted server, secure it in the rack as described
in section "Sliding the server into the rack" on page 132.
If the server has been completely removed from the rack for maintenance
purposes, reinstall and secure it in the rack as described in section
"Mounting the server in the rack" on page 130.
Ê Reconnect all external cables to the replaced expansion card.
Ê Reconnect the AC power cords to the power supply units and secure them
with PSU cable brackets as described in section "Connecting the server to
the mains" on page 133.
Ê After installing or replacing a Modular RAID controller, update the firmware
as described in section "Updating RAID controller firmware" on page 153.
Ê In order to configure an expansion card that has been installed or replaced,
the card’s Option ROM has to be enabled in the system board BIOS. If
applicable, proceed as described in section "Enabling Option ROM scan" on
page 154.
Ê Enable boot watchdog functionality as described in section "Enabling SVOM
boot watchdog functionality" on page 159.
Ê If BitLocker functionality is used and has been disabled before starting the
maintenance task, re-enable BitLocker as described in section "Enabling
BitLocker functionality" on page 165.
Ê If applicable, restore LAN teaming configurations as described in section
"After replacing / upgrading LAN controllers" on page 169.
