Usingthe RADWINGSU
Whatisitfor
TheGPS‐basedsynchronizationunit(GSU)isdesignedtohandleinter‐siteinterferences
underlarge‐scaledeploymentscenarios.
TheGSUisanoutdoorunitconsistingofasmallsizeenclosure,aGPSantennaandaPoE
device.
TheGSUisconnectedtotheHSSUnitusingastandardHSScable.Itsynchronizesthe
transmissiontimingofmultipleHub‐Sitestothe sameclocksourcethuseliminatingmutual
inte rference.
GSUFunctionality
TheGSUreceivesasynchronizationsignalfromtheGPSoncepersecond.Itdistributesa
RADWINproprietarysynchronizationsignaltoallotherODUunitsusingtheRS422protocol
andthestandardHSSmechanism,wheretheGSUactsasanHSMunit.
WhentheGSUdoesn’treceiveasynchronizationsignalfromtheGPSfor30seconds,itmoves
automaticallytoSelf‐GenerationmodeandactsasaregularHSMunit,untiltheGPSrecovers.
