Whatisitfor
TheGPSbasedsynchronizationunit(GSU)isdesignedtohandleintersiteinterferences
underlargescaledeploymentscenarios.
TheGSUisanoutdoorunitconsistingofasmallsizeenclosure,aGPSantennaandaPoE
device.
TheGSUisconnectedtotheHSSUnitusingastandardHSScable.Itsynchronizesthe
transmissiontimingofmultipleHubSitestothe sameclocksourcethuseliminatingmutual
inte rference.
GSUFunctionality
TheGSUreceivesasynchronizationsignalfromtheGPSoncepersecond.Itdistributesa
RADWINproprietarysynchronizationsignaltoallotherODUunitsusingtheRS422protocol
andthestandardHSSmechanism,wheretheGSUactsasanHSMunit.
WhentheGSUdoesn’treceiveasynchronizationsignalfromtheGPSfor30seconds,itmoves
automaticallytoSelfGenerationmodeandactsasaregularHSMunit,untiltheGPSrecovers.
