OnAir 3000 Digital Mixing Console
Operation 5-137
Document generated: 10.10.14
SW V6.0
5.12 Diagnostics
The OnAir 3000 diagnostics system consists of different topics:
Error Handling This is the distribution part for the detected errors, warnings and information
from the diagnostics system.
System Diagnostics This is the software running in the background and detecting system errors.
SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is supported for SW V3.1 and up.
System Tests System Tests are executed on the service engineer’s demand in order to run
some specific performance checks, i.e., to check efficiency of buttons and
faders. For this purpose the console is switched to a special test mode.
5.12.1 Error Handling
5.12.1.1 Principle
Error messages can be distributed in the whole mixing console system. It is
possible to configure each GUI to show and accept errors from each console.
Also complete house systems with a central diagnostics station running the
‘Log Screen’ application can be configured. In the example below it is shown
that mixer 2 is an A/B desk configuration; each of the two desks displays its
own error messages. Mixer 3 has no GUI. However, its errors together with
the ones from all other mixers are logged by the central log station.
5.12.1.2 Error Types
There are three types of user log messages:
Information Information messages are generated in order to inform the user on a console
status that doesn’t reduce the functionality of the console. Usually this is the
information that a card was installed, or that an existing problem doesn’t
appear anymore.
Warnings Warning messages are generated when a minor problem occurs that can be
handled by the system itself. The system may modify some console settings
in order to solve the problem. Normal operation is still possible, but probably
in a slightly different or restricted way.
Errors Error messages are generated if a serious problem prevents the console from
normal operation. In case of an error the system is not able to handle the prob-
lem itself. Example: ‘SYSTEM, Fatal software error occurred
- System will be stopped. For details see log-file’.
