(5) I/O numbers of empty slots
To an empty slot on a base unit, where no I/O module or intelligent function module is 
mounted, the number of points set in the <<System settings>> tab of C Controller 
setting utility is assigned. (The default is 16.)
When base units are assigned in AUTO mode, if an extension stage number is 
skipped, it will not be reserved as the number for an empty base unit. (  Page 
7-4, Section 7.2 (2) (a))
To reserve an extension stage for future expansion, perform the base unit setting 
in the <<I/O assignment settings>> of C Controller setting utility.
