Pingfunction
ThePingfunctionisactivatedbyclickingthePingbuttonontheOperationmenu.
Purpose
ThepurposeofthePingfunctionistoenableordisabletheEK15audiotransmissions
intothewater(“pinging”).
Description
Theaudiotransmission(“pinging”)fromtheEK15can
beswitchedofforon.Clickthemiddleofthebutton
toopenthesubmenu,oreithersidetoenableordisable
transmission.Thepingsymbolontherightsideofthe
buttonisalsousedtotransmitsinglepings.
Oncepingingisswitchedon,youcanusethePingModefunctiontochoosehowoften
theEK15shalltransmitsoundintothewater.
The“pingrate”istheparameterthatcontrolshowoftentheechosoundershalltransmit
acousticenergy(a“ping”)intothewater.
IfyouobserveapelagicechoontheEK15,anditseemstofollowthebottomcontour,it
mayinfactbeafalseechofromtheprevioustransmission(“ping”).Theonlywayto
removethisfalseechoistoreducethepingrate.Ifyoudothis,alltheechoesfromthe
