TheSynchronizationdialogboxisopenedbyclickingtheSynchronizationbuttonon
theSetupmenu.
Purpose
ThepurposeoftheSynchronizationdialogboxistosetuptheEK15tooperatealone,
orasamasterorslaveinasynchronizedsystem.Synchronizationisrequiredinorder
toavoidinterferenceiftheEK15isusedsimultaneouslywithotherhydroacoustic
instrumentswithinthesamefrequencyrange.
Description
Whenevermorethanone
hydroacousticsystem
isinstalledonavessel,
interferencemayoccur.To
avoidthis,thesystemsmay
eitherbeconnectedtoa
commonsynchronization
system,oroneoftheacoustic
systemsmaybedenedas
a“master”,andcontrolthe
transmissionontheother
system(s).
TheEK15includes
interfaceforremotetransmit
synchronisation.ItcanbesetuptooperateineitherMasterorSlavemodeinrelationto
anexternalsynchronizationoranotherhydroacousticsystem.
Inphysics,interferenceisthephenomenoninwhichtwowavessuperposeeach
othertoformaresultantwaveofgreaterorloweramplitude.Interferenceusually
referstotheinteractionofwavesthatarecorrelatedorcoherentwitheachother,
eitherbecausetheycomefromthesamesourceorbecausetheyhavethesame
ornearlythesamefrequency.
