The backup location is specified as follows :
Backup Root\Studer\Backups\Product\Software Version\System Name\Backup Name
The user can either create a new backup or overwrite an existing.
• Whencreatinganewbackup,theuserispromptedtoenterabackupname.
If a backup already exists with this name, a confirmation dialog appears
to ask the user, if he really wants to overwrite the existing backup. The
new backup is automatically created into the backup folder of the current
system.
• Whenoverwritinganexistingbackup,aconfirmationdialogappearsto
ask the user, if he really wants to overwrite the selected backup. Only
backups of the current system can be overwritten!
Backups can only be created into the current system’s folder.
Restore Initiates the process, which restores a selected backup to the current system.
The process consists of the following steps:
• TurnsOFFtheAutoSavemodeforoperationalinitialsnapshots
• Deletedalloptionalconfigurationfilesonthecurrentsystem
• Transfers allconfigurationfilesof the selected backup tothecurrent
system
• Createsanerrormessage,ifthefilestransferfails
.
A confirmation dialog appears to ask the user, if he really wants to overwrite
the configuration of the selected system.
Backups can be restored to any system of the same product running the same
software version.
Note : The Restore function does not check any compatibility of the configuration
files with the hardware setup of the current system. This is in the competence
of the user.
Usually cloning a system using Backup/Restore is done on equal hard-
ware setups and before I/O Sharing configuration. The SystemID in the
OALaunch.ini-, rsp. container.ini-file must be adjusted manually.
If the SystemID of the backuped files (determined from OALaunch.ini) is
different from the running system or cannot be determined, the c10_ini-
tial.key file will not be restored and therefore the option keys will remain
configured as before.
Missing mandatory configuration files within a backup will create the error
message 8714: “BACKUP/RESTORE, Missing configuration file! Manda-
tory configuration file ‘config.xml ‘ not found. File not restored to ‘CORE’.”
Missing optional configuration files do not create any error message.
Rename Backup Renames the selected backup.
