8A.3.4 Maintenance
The oxygen analyser is maintenance-free. If a fault occurs, send the unopened and com-
plete device to the MBRAUN Service department together with the Declaration of Decon-
tamination (Appendix chapter 12). Replacement sensors are available on request.
8A.4 Moisture analyser
8A.4.1 Description
The moisture analyser MB-MO-SE1 is designed to monitor the atmosphere of the
MBRAUN Systems for residual moisture. The measurement range is <1.0 … 500ppm.
The measurement results are linear in the range <1.0 … 50ppm.
The moisture analyser consists of a sensor element and a special electronic unit. The
sensor is secured against mechanical influences by a protective cap. The sensor leads
are connected to the electronics by a vacuum-tight feed-through. The electronics are con-
tained in an air-tight box mounted directly on the back of the DN40-KF flange.
The electronics and the sensor are calibrated at the factory using certified calibration gas.
The user cannot adjust the device.
The sensor element is made of ceramic with a special layer. The sensor is coated with
totally dehydrated phosphoric acid. Water molecules in the gas are absorbed by the
phosphoric acid. The electric current of the sensor electrodes uses electrolysis to separ-
ate the water molecules into H
2
and O
2
. The primary signal is amplified and is indicated in
a temperature-compensated display.
Advantages of the electrolytic principle:
¡ Disturbance of chemical processes is minimised.
¡ Current is proportional to the H
2
O concentration in the measured gas.
If the maintenance work recommended in the maintenance chapter is performed, the ser-
vice life of the sensor will be extremely long.
