Depending on the material used, the required safety level could be higher than the level
covered by standard systems. For more details, see section Process materials.
3.4 Qualification of personnel
It is the responsibility of the operating company and/or safety officer, to ensure that the
system is operated and maintained by personnel with the following qualifications:
¡ The personnel have received instruction about how to work on the system
¡ The personnel have been instructed and trained for their special task on the system
¡ The personnel has exceed the minimum age required by law
Work on electrical equipment and related accessories may only permitted by qualified
electricians or by instructed persons under the supervision of an electrician.
A qualified person is anyone who, due to his/her specialist training, as well as knowledge
of the applicable regulations, can assess the work, assigned to him/her and can recog-
nize and assess possible hazards.
Under the following circumstances are personnel permitted to work on the system under
the continuous supervision by a suitably qualified person:
¡ The personnel is operating the system temporarily
¡ The personnel is partly trained or instructed
¡ The personnel is in apprenticeship
3.5 Duties of the operating personnel
All information in this manual is intended to supplement and not to replace existing gen-
eral safety regulations and guidelines.
The personnel working on the system must:
¡ Read and know the content of this operating manual, especially the "Safety" section.
¡ Always work according to operating instructions. This includes any person in charge
of transport, storage, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
¡ Follow the safety instructions in all additional MBRAUN or 3rd party documentation
provided with the inert gas system.
Persons responsible for safety issues must make sure that necessary standard operating
procedures (SOP) for foreseeable system failures and misuse are established and com-
municated to the operating personnel (see section Duties of the operating company [}3 -
5], section Standard Operation Procedures).
