12.6 Maintenance works
12.6.1 Glovebox
Preparations
Observe section Maintenance contract with MBRAUN [}12 - 8].
Standard boxes and antechambers with a total volume of up to 6 m³ (only with use of
non-hazardous gases (N
2
) and process materials):
► Ensure sufficient ventilation of the room.
► Open the outer antechamber door and let the antechamber atmosphere escape
slowly.
► Then open the inner antechamber door.
► Wait some minutes before you refill the box with ambient air (the time depends on
the box volume).
► Open the box panes/doors.
Special systems: with use of large-volume boxes, hazardous gases and process
materials
In general, these systems are equipped with an air purge function.
Preparations
> The system and the analysers are switched on.
> The exhaust is connected to an in-house exhaust system.
► Start air purging.
ð The doors are released if the O
2
content is higher than 19%.
► Open the box panes/doors.
► Perform maintenance work.
► Replace the valves.
► Plug-in or replace the analysers.
Cleaning the box window
Clean the exterior using conventional detergents (do not use caustic detergents). For this
purpose, use a soft, lint-free cloth, or a vacuum cleaner with brush attachment, if avail-
able.
Checking the overpressure safety valve
Cyclical check of the overpressure control valve
The overpressure control valve is an optional feature. It checks the function of the over-
pressure safety valve (OSV) at the glovebox.
