16.1 Safety
DANGER
Work by inexperienced personnel on electrical systems
Risk of injury due to electrical voltage: uncontrolled muscle reactions, crippling, burns or
death may result!
All work on the mains connection, control cabinet and electrical system must only be
performed by a trained electrician.
In case of electrical shock, inform the emergency physician immediately.
WARNING
Button “emergency off” on 3rd party equipment
Typically, emergency off buttons on 3rd party equipment shut off the 3rd party equipment
but do not necessarily shut off the MBRAUN equipment.
Whenever an emergency button is pressed on 3rd party equipment, be sure to also
press the emergency off button on the MBRAUN system, if one is available.
If no emergency off button is provided on MBRAUN equipment, deactivate circulation
in case of an emergency situation. If the emergency situation requires that the equip-
ment be disconnected from the power supply, switch the power off.
16.1.1 Basic rules for working with electrical systems
¡ The system must be earthed at all times. If necessary, additional potential equaliza-
tion must be provided.
¡ The mains connection must be made in accordance with to local guidelines.
¡ Modifications to the electrical system must only be made in agreement with
MBRAUN.
¡ Modifications to the electrical system must always be documented in the wiring dia-
gram.
16.1.2 Electrical safety check
An electrical test must be performed after every change to the electrical system and after
each maintenance or repair task completed.
Cyclical testing must be conducted as required by BGV A3
(Germany) or applicable national regulations on operating
safety or in-house regulations.
Document all completed inspections in the MBRAUN
maintenance log.
Compare the measured values with the data from the
initial test to evaluate the test results.
