5 Purified working gas is circulated back into the glovebox or enclosure (displayed
in blue in the figure above).
6 The inlet and outlet of the circulation piping are protected by filters (e.g. HEPA fil-
ters). The filters maintain a particle-free atmosphere and separate the box from
the piping and the purifier.
An inert gas system works on the principle of gas circulation in a closed loop. Contamin-
ated working gas from the glovebox/enclosure is circulated by the blower. It passes
through an RKM, flows through the blower and returns into the glovebox/enclosure.
Heat exchanger:
Electric heat and compression heat, generated in the gas purifier increase the gas tem-
perature. Cooling reduces the temperature of the purified inert gas before it is circulated
back into the glovebox/enclosure. A convenient, constant temperature inside the glove-
box/enclosure is maintained.
The system is Siemens PLC-controlled and operated using the touch panel. The statuses
of all relevant components and of all important system parameters are displayed on the
touch panel.
Once started by the operator, the working gas circulation is an ongoing process. If it is
stopped or the reactor is saturated, the O
2
and moisture concentration increases. A satur-
ated reactor has to be regenerated.
