4 Automatic antechamber cycle for safe unloading in
combination with a Siemens PLC-controlled lock
mechanism of the antechamber covers. This is al-
ways required wherever toxic or flammable sub-
stances are processed inside the glovebox.

5 Combined exhaust. The exhaust from the vacuum
pump and from the box purge (if available) is com-
bined into a single line and connected to the oper-
ating company’s on-site exhaust system. A differen-
tial pressure monitoring of the operating company’s
exhaust system must be available with signal trans-
mission to the glovebox system control.

Hazard class MB-HC-III
MB-Hazard class includes personal protection for working with carcinogenic, mutagenic
and fertility-compromising hazardous materials. In order to achieve sufficient protection,
the glovebox must be operated in negative pressure mode. In case of a system leakage,
users are protected against the substances contained inside.
The following system modifications and safety features are required:

6 Fail-safe PLC
¡ The standard Siemens PLC is replaced or ex-
panded by a Siemens PLC with self-monitoring
components and / or two independent physical
and logical control channels.
¡ This allows safe operation of the glovebox even
in the event of a line- or electronic component-
failure.
¡ It includes a risk assessment for the system in
close cooperation with the operating company’s
safety manager.

Hazard class MB-HC-IV
MB-Hazard class covers personal protection for extremely hazardous substances.
It requires a highly customized safety solution, including a detailed risk assessment for
the system in close cooperation with the operating company’s safety representatives.

Hazard class MB-HC-EX (inside)
The hazard class MB-Hazard class EX (inside) includes personal protection for hazard-
ous materials that burn in air. An operation of the glovebox in overpressure mode is re-
commended.
