Inordertoobtainaccuratedepthreadingsandshechoes,itisveryimportantthatthe
soundspeedthroughthewaterissetcorrectly.IntheEnvironmentdialogbox,youmust
deneifyouworkinsaltorfreshwater.
TheMeanWaterColumnTemperatureeldallowsyoutoenteratemperature.The
informationisusedtocalculatetheabsorption.Oncethesalinityandtemperature
informationisprovided,theEK15willcalculatethesoundspeed.

Clicktoselectfreshorsaltwater.
2SoundSpeed
OncethesalinityandtheMeanWaterColumnTemperaturehasbeenprovided,the
EK15willcalculatethesoundspeed.Ifrequired,youcanmodifythevalueusing
thespinbox.
3MeanWaterColumnTemperature
Enterthetemperatureifthisisknowntoyou.Tondthistemperature,youwillneed
adedicatedinstrument.WhenthistemperatureisknowntotheEK15itwillbeused
tocalculatetheabsorption,andtheechograminformationwillbemoreaccurate.
