RemoteControl:AsServer
Purpose
TheAsServertabparametersareusedwhenyouwish
tosetupyourEK15asaserverinalargernetwork.
Thisistypicallyusedwhenasecondcomputeris
installedsomewhereelseonthevesseltomonitor–
andcontrol–EK15operations.
Description
Ifyouhavetwonetworkcardsinyourcomputerwestronglysuggestthatyou:
•usetherstnetworkcardforcommunicationwiththeechosoundertransceiver.
•usethesecondnetworkcardfordatatransferbetweentheserver(yourEK15
computer)andclients(peripheralcomputersinthenetwork).
Thetwonetworkcardsarethenconnectedtotwodifferentnetworks.
SpecifynetworkcardforserverfunctionalitybyselectingtheappropriateIPaddress
fromthelist.Theinitialconnectionbetweenaserverandaclientiscreatedthroughon
aspecicUDPportnumberontheserver.Whentheconnectionisestablisheddata
communicationistransferredtoanewUDPportnumberwhichisautomaticallyassigned
bytheserver.Thedefaultlocalportnumberfortheinitialconnectioncanbechangedif
youwanttouseaspeciclocalportnumber,normallythisisnotnecessary.
Parameters
1LocalIPAddress
ThisistheInternetProtocol(IP)addressofthelocalEthernetinterfaceboard.
Inmostcases,eachEthernetboardhasauniqueIPaddress,evenwhenaninterface
boardsupportsmultiplesockets.Ifyouhavemorethanoneinterfaceboard,youare
providedwithalistoftheavailableaddresses.
2Localport(UDP)
Thisportisimportantifyouwishtoreceive
information.Itmustmatchtheport
numberontheremotecomputer.
Tondtheportnumberontheremotecomputer,consultthedocumentationforthe
softwareprogramtobeused.Ifthedatacommunicationissetuptoonlytransmit
informationfromtheEK15,thisparameterisnotrequired.
