Description
TheNormalOperationdialogboxlistsallthemainparametersforthetransceiver(s).
Thedialogboxprovidesonerow(line)foreachtransceiverinuse.Youarepermitted
tochangetheparameters,butwewilladviseyounottodoanychangesunlessyouare
wellawareoftheconsequences.
Parameters

Thiscolumnspecieswhichtransceiver(s)youareusing.Thetextstringprovides
thefollowinginformation:
•TransceiverID
•Transceiver'sIPaddress
•Transducername
2Mode
Thiscolumnspeciesthecurrenttransceivermode.Y oucanmanuallyselectamode.
aActive
Thetransmitterandreceiverarebothactive(normaloperation).
ThiswillmaketheEK15operateasspeciedbytheOperationfunction.See
Operationfunctiononpage150foralistofoperationalmodes.
bPassive
Thetransmitterispassivewhilethereceiverisactive.
TheEK15willreceiveandcomputethesignalsdetectedbythetransducer(s).
Thismodeisthususefulfortestpurposes,andwhenyouwishtomeasurethe
ambientbackgroundnoiseinthesea.ItcanalsobeusefultoruntheEK15in
Passivemodetodiscriminatebetweentargetechoes(presentonlyinActive
mode)andnoise(presentinbothActiveandPassivemodes).
Tip
Ifyouwishtoinvestigatetheambientnoise,choosePassivemodeintheNormal
Operationdialogbox.Anynoiseordisturbanceinthewater–withinthe
transducer'sfrequencyrange–willthenbedetectedandshown.Thisfeature
willforexamplebeabletopickupdisturbancesfromotherhydroacoustic
systemsonyourownvessel,oronothervesselsinthevicinity.
cTest
Thetransmitterispassivewhilethereceiverisactive.
ThismodeisnotdesignedforoperationalusewiththeEK15.
3PulseDuration
Thiscolumnspeciesthecurrentdurationofthetransmittedpulse.Youcan
manuallyselectadifferentduration.
IfyouclickAuto,theEK15willautomaticallyselectthebestpulsedurationforthe
currentoperationalmode,depthandbottomconditions.
