Purpose
AspeedlogmustbeconnectedtotheSU90.Thecablemustbeprovidedbythe
installationshipyard.TheSU90canreadthespeedinformationfromthefollowing
threesources.
•Pulselog(200pulses/nauticalmile)(mustbeconvertedtoaseriallineformat)
•Speedlogwithseriallineoutput
•(D)GPSwithseriallineoutput
Note
Theoutputfromapulselogmustneverbeconnectedtomorethanonerecipientsystem
simultaneously.IfitisconnectedtotheSU90,donot
usethesameoutputtofeedother
systems.

TheSU90doesnotprovideaninputforapulselog.Inordertoconnectaspeedlogwith
pulselog,youwillneedaconvertertomatchtheseriallineinputontheProcessorUnit.
Speedlogwithseriallineoutput
ThesonarcanreadthespeedlogdatafromaseriallinewithastandardNMEA0183
telegramformat.Thetelegramcancontainboththespeedandthecoursedata.
Inordertoperformthephysicalconnectiontothespeedlog,refertotheapplicable
speedlogdocumentation.
(D)GPSserialline
The(D)GPSoutputdatawillnormallycontainthespeedloginformation.Insuchcase,
thisseriallinecanbeusedforboththepositionandspeeddata.
