Checkformanualsandotherdocumentsthatmayhavebeenaddedtothecarton
duringpacking,andputthesetooneside.Checkalsoforspecialtools,doorkeysetc.
Unpackingelectronicandelectromechanicalunits
Electronicandelectromechanicalunitswillnormallybewrappedinaclearplastic
bag.Lifttheunit,initsbag,outofthecartonandplaceitinastablepositiononthe
oor/workbench.
Inspecttheunitfordamagebeforeopeningtheplasticbag.
Note
BewareofthedangersofElectro-StaticDischarge(ESD)bothtoyourselfandtothe
equipment,whenhandlingelectronicunitsandcomponents.
Cablesmustneverbeusedascarryinghandlesorliftingpoints.
Donotbreakthesealtoopenacircuitboardpackagebeforetheboardistobeused.If
theboardpackageisreturnedtothemanufacturerwiththesealbroken,thecontentswill
beassumedtohavebeenusedandthecustomerwillbebilledaccordingly.
Assumingalliswell,openthebagandremovetheunit.
Opentheunitandcheckinside.Removeanypackinganddesiccantmaterialthatmay
beinside.
Unpackingmechanicalunits
Mechanicalunitsmaybeheavy.Usingasuitablycertiedliftingapparatus,lifttheunit
outofthecrateandplaceitinastablepositionontheoor/workbench.
Inspecttheunitfordamageandremoveanypackingmaterialthatmaybeinsidetheunit.
Unpackingtransducers
Transducersmaybesuppliedmountedtoahullunit(ifany),orpackedseparately.Crates
arenormallyidentiedbytheordernumberandtheserialnumber.
Thetransducerfacemustbeprotectedbyarigid,paddedcover(e.g.awoodenboxlined
withfoamrubber)allthetimeitisexposedtotheriskofphysicaldamage.
Caution
Oncetransducerisunpacked,greatcaremustbetakentoensurethat
transducerbodyandcablingisnotexposedtoanymechanicalstress.
