The“sonarroom”isthecompartmentinwhichtheTransceiverUnitandthehullunit
areinstalled.
ObservetheseminimumrequirementstoobtainsuitableworkingconditionsforSimrad
SU90installation,useandmaintenance.
Itisstronglyrecommendedtouseadedicatedcompartmenttohousethehullunitandthe
TransceiverUnit.Thesetwounitsmustalsobeinstalledrelativelyclosetoeachother
duetothelimitedlengthofthetransducercables.

Watertightintegrity
Thesize,locationanddesignofthesonarroommustfullallrequirementstothe
vessel’swatertightintegrity.Intheeventofamajorleakinthesonarroom,itmustbe
possibletocloseallwatertighthatchesand/ordoorstothesonarroomtomaintainthe
vesselstabilityandsafety.
Thephysicalsizeofthesonarroommustbelimited,sothatintheeventofamajor
leak,theoodingofthesonarroomwillnotinduceinstability,orcausethevesselto
capsizeorsink.
Ensurethatallwatertightdecksandbulkheadsareinspectedperiodicallytoverifythat
therearenounprotectedopeningsorimproperpenetrationsthatwillallowprogressive
oodingfromthesonarroom,andthatthewatertightdoorsandhatchesareinplaceand
inworkingorder.
Ensurebilgehighlevelalarmsarearrangedtoprovidetheearliestwarningsofabnormal
accumulation.Thehighlevelbilgealarmsmustbesetaslowaspossibletothedeck
orbilgewellandpositionedalongthecentreareaofthecompartmentorinalocation
atwhichtheuidswillgravitatetorst.
Allcablesleadinginandoutofthesonarroommustberuninsteelconduits.Thesesteel
conduitsmustreachupandabovethefreeboarddeck.
