Aninspectionmustbecarriedoutimmediatelyaftertheunit(s)havearrivedattheir
destination.
1Checkallwoodenorcardboardboxes,plasticbagsandpalletsforphysicaldamage.
Lookforsignsofdropping,immersioninwaterorothermishandling.
2Ifdamageisdetectedexternally,youwillhavetoopenthepackagingtocheckthe
contents.Requestarepresentativeofthecarriertobepresentwhilethecartonis
opened,soanytransportationdamagecanbeidentied.
3Ifanyunitsaredamaged,prepareaninspectionreportstatingtheconditionofthe
unitandactionstaken.Describethedamageandcollectphotographicevidenceif
possible.SendtheinspectionreporttoKongsbergMaritimeassoonaspossible.
4Iftheunitsarenotdamaged,checkthehumidityabsorbingmaterial.Ifrequired,dry
orreplacethebags,thenre-packtheunit(s)accordingtothepackinginstructions.

Generalunpackingprocedure
Normalprecautionsforthehandling,transportationandstorageoffragileelectronic
equipmentmustbeundertaken.
Note
Iftheunitisnottobepreparedforimmediateuse,youmayconsiderstoringitunopened
initsoriginalpackingmaterial.However ,itmaybeusefultoopenthecasetocheckits
contentsfordamageandretrieveanyaccompanyingdocumentation.
Donotuseaknifetoopencardboardcartons-thecontentsmaylieclosetothesurface,
andmaybedamagedbytheblade.
1Checkthecartonbeforeopeningittoensureitshowsnosignsofdropping,
immersioninwaterorothermishandling.Ifthecartonshowssignsofsuchdamage,
refertotheparagraphcoveringInspectiononreceipt.
2Placethecartononastableworkbenchorontheoorwiththetopofthecarton
uppermost.
3Intheabsenceofotherinstructions,alwaysopenthetopofthecartonrst.The
contentswillnormallyhavebeenloweredintothecartonfromabove,sothiswill
usuallybetheeasiestroutetofollow.Caremustbeusedwhenopeningthecartonto
ensurethecontentsarenotdamaged.Donotuseaknifetoopencardboardcartons
4Ifthecartonhasbeenclosedusingstaples,removethestaplesfromthecartonas
youopenit.Thiswillreducethepossibilitiesofscratchinjurytoyourselfand
damagetothecontents.
5Ifawoodencratehasbeenclosedusingscrews,alwaysremovethemusinga
screwdriver.Donotattempttoprisethelidoffwithacrowbarorsimilar.
