Aboutthehullunitinstallation
Thehullunitisalargeandcrucialpartofthesonarsystem.
Duetoitsphysicalsizeandweight,andthefactthatthetrunkpenetratesthevesselhull,
itisveryimportantthatthehullunitisinstalledandsecuredproperly.Theinstallation
shipyardmustprovideallnecessaryinstallationdrawings,andifrequired,thesemustbe
approvedbytheapplicableauthorities.Seethedrawingleformoredetails.
Thehullunitshallbemountedontheinstallationtrunkatthebottomofthehull.
Relevantcranesandliftingequipmentmustbeavailable,andfreeaccessthroughthehull
orthedecksontothetopofthetrunkmustbeprovided.
Note
Toensurethesafetyofthesonarsystemandthevessel,itisveryimportantthatthe
mechanicalsupportofthehullunitgantryissatisfactory.Formoreinformation,seethe
informationprovidedaboutmechanicalsupport.
Adedicatedgasket(O-ring)isprovidedwiththehullunit.Thisgasketwillprovidea
watertightconnectionbetweentheinstallationtrunkandthebottomofthetransducer
shaftsleeve.Makesurethatthisgasketiskeptsafefromdamage,andthatthetopofthe
trunkiskeptclean,smoothandwithoutphysicaldamagesuchasscratchesordents.
ProperO-ringlubricationmustbeappliedbeforethehullunitismounted.
