Aboutsynchronisation
Whenevermorethanonehydroacousticsystem(forexampleechosounderorsonar)is
installedonavessel,interferencemayoccur.Toavoidthis,therelevantsystemsmay
eitherbeconnectedtoacommonsynchronisationsystem,oroneofthehydroacoustic
systemsmaybesetuptocontrolthetransmissions.
Inprinciples,therearethreesynchronisationmodes:
1None
TheSU90runsbyitself,nosynchronisationtakesplace.
2Slave
TheSU90canbeinterfacedasaSlavetoanexternalMastersynchronisationdevice.
Thisexternaldevicemaybeanyotherhydroacousticsystem(forexampleecho
sounderorsonar),orevenadedicatedsynchronisationsystem.
3Master
TheSU90canbesetintoMastermode.Itwillthencontrolwhentheslavesystems
cantransmit.
Initsdefaultconguration,theSU90issetuptooperatebyitself.Specialactionmust
betakentoredenetheSU90forMasterorSlaveoperation.Thisismadeusingthe
ExternalSynchronisationparameterdialogboxontheSetupmenu.
Onlargehydroacousticsystems,thebestsolutionforsynchronisationwillalways
beadedicatedsynchronisationsystem,suchastheKongsbergK-Syncsystem.The
K-Syncsynchronisationsystemprovideshighlycongurabletransmissioncontrolwhen
multiplehydroacousticsystemsareemployedonavessel.TheK-Syncprovidessimple
yetexiblecontrolofthetransmissionschedule.Thetriggeringcanbetailoredto
theparticulartypeofvesseloperation,andthedesireddatadensitycollectedbyeach
system.Anyhydroacousticsystemthathasatriggerinputcanbeexternallytriggered
bytheK-Sync.
