Thesonartrunkprovidesthephysicalfoundation
fortheentirehullunitgantry.Thetrunkfurther
penetratesthehull,anditisthereforeacrucial
partofthehullunitassembly.Inordertoensure
propersonaroperation,thelocationofthesonar
trunkmustbecarefullyselected.
Atrunkwithablindcover–approvedbyDet
norskeVeritas(DnV)–canbeorderedfrom
KongsbergMaritimeasanoptionaldelivery,orit
maybemanufacturedbytheinstallationshipyard
basedonthedrawingsinthismanualandthe
propertiesofthehull.
Note
IfyouarereplacinganSX90sonarwithanewSU90sonar ,youwillnotneedtoinstall
anewtrunk.Adedicatedextensionmodulecanbeprovidedtoincreasetheheightof
theexistingtrunk.
Note
Theinstallationshipyardmustprovideallnecessaryinstallationdrawings,andif
required,thesemustbeapprovedbytheapplicableauthorities.
Adedicatedgasket(O-ring)isprovidedwiththehullunit.Thisgasketwillprovidea
watertightconnectionbetweentheinstallationtrunkandthebottomofthetransducer
shaftsleeve.Duringtrunkinstallation,makesurethatthisgasketiskeptsafefrom
damage,andthatthetopofthetrunkiskeptclean,smoothandwithoutphysicaldamage
suchasscratchesordents.
ProperO-ringlubricationmustbeappliedbeforethehullunitismounted.
