Inordertomakeanoise/speedcurvefortheship,makethefollowingsettingsinthe
sonarmenu.
1OpentheSetupmenu.
2ClicktheT estbuttontoaccessuptheSystemTestmenu.
3ClicktheTestCongbutton.
4ObservethattheTestCongparameterdialogopensatthebottompartofthemenu
eld.
5SelectNoise&VRtoselectthemenusettingsforthereceivingvoltageresponse.
6ClickClose.
7OpentheHorizontalmenu,clicktheTXPowerbutton,andswitchpoweroff.
8ObservethattheEcholevelbuttonintheSystemtestmenuprovidesaread-outofthe
currentvaluemeasuredbythesonar.
Testprocedure
Thisnoise/speedcurvecangiveapictureoftheship’sbestsearchspeed.Observethe
followingproceduretomakethecurve.
1Startwith0knotswiththeenginerunning.
2UsethetwoTrainrightandTrainleftbuttons(arrows)ontheOperatorPaneltoturn
theaudiolinetothedifferentbearingsshownintheNoisemeasurementstable.

3Foreverynewbearing,waitatleast10secondsbeforeyoumakearead-outof
thenewecholevel.
4Entertheresultsintothetable.
5Increasethespeedto2knots.
6Repeatthereadingsforthesixdifferentbearings.
7Repeattheprocedurewiththedifferentspeedsandbearingsshowninthetable.
8Whenthemeasurementsarenished,makeaplotofthenoisefor0degreesbearing
intotheNoisespeedplotdiagram.
