Allcableconnectionsareshownontheapplicablecableplanandinterconnection
diagrams.
Wherethecableplanshowscableconnectionsoutsideanequipmentboxoutline,the
connectionsaretobemadetoaplugorsocketwhichmatchestheplugorsocketon
thatparticularitemofequipment.
Wheretwocablesareconnectedinseriesviaajunctionboxorterminalblock,the
screensofbothcablesmustbeconnectedtogetherbutnotgrounded.
Cableterminations
Caremustbetakentoensurethatthecorrectterminationsareusedforallcable
conductors,especiallythosethataretobeconnectedtoterminalblocks.Inthiscase,
crimpedsleeve-terminationsmustbettedtopreventtheconductorcorefromfraying
andmakingabadconnectionwiththeterminalblock.Itisalsooftheutmostimportance
thatwherecrimpedterminationsareused,thecorrectsizeofcrimpandcrimpingtoolare
used.Inaddition,eachcableconductormusthaveaminimumof15cmslack(service
loop)leftbeforeitsterminationistted.
Cableidentication
Cableidenticationcodescorrespondingtothecablenumbershowninthecableplan
mustbeattachedtoeachoftheexternalcables.Theseidenticationcodesshouldbe
positionedonthecableinsuchawaythattheyarereadilyvisibleafterallpanelshave
beentted.Inaddition,eachcableconductorshouldbemarkedwiththeterminalboard
numberorsockettowhichitisconnected.
