Unlessotherwisestatedintheaccompanyingdocumentation,electronic,
electro-mechanicalandmechanicalunitssuppliedbyKongsbergMaritimecanbe
transportedusingallmethodsapprovedfordelicateequipment;(byroad,rail,airorsea).
Theunitsaretobetransportedinaccordancewithgeneralorspecicinstructionsforthe
appropriateunit(s),usingpallets,transportcases,orcartonboxesasappropriate.
Note
Speciallocalrestrictionsconcerningairtransportationmaybeappliedtounits
containingcertaintypesofbatteries.Theseunitsmustbecheckedproperly,andthe
regulationsmustbeinvestigatedbythepacker/shipperbeforetheunitisdispatched.
Alllocaltransportationmustbecarriedoutaccordingtothesamespecicationsasfor
theinitialdelivery.Ingeneral,allunitsmustbehandledwithcare.
Thecartonorcasecontainingtheunitmustbekeptdryatalltimes,andmustbesheltered
fromtheweather.Itmustnotbesubjectedtoshocks,excessivevibrationorotherrough
handling.Thecartonorcasewillnormallybemarkedwithtextorsymbolsindicating
whichwayitistobeplaced.Followanyinstructionsgiven,andensurethecaseis
alwaysplacedwithits“top”uppermost.
Thecartonorcasemustnotbeusedforanypurposeforwhichitwasnotintended(step,
table,etc.),andintheabsenceofotherinformation,noothercartonsorcasesmust
bestackedontopofit.
Lifting
Aheavycratewillnormallybemarkedwithitsweight,andtheweightsofothercartons
orcrateswillnormallybeenteredonthepackinglist.
•Youmustalwayschecktheweightofacratebeforeyouattempttoliftit.
•Youmustalwaysuseliftingapparatusthatisapprovedandcertiedfortheload.
Heavyunitsmaybeequippedwithliftinglugsfortransportationbycranewithinthe
workshoporinstallationarea.Beforeyouuseacrane:
•Youmustchecktheapplicableweightcerticateforthecrane.
•Youmustcheckthesecurityoftheliftinglugs.
Ensurethatallavailableliftinglugsareused.Ensuretheunitremainsundercontrol
duringtheoperationtoavoiddamagetotheunit,equipmentorpersonnel.
Heavyunitsmaybetransportedusingaforklifttruck.Specialattentionmustthenbe
paidtothepositionoftheunit’scentreofgravity.Theunitsmustbeproperlysecuredto
thetruck.
