3.5.5 Inlet filters
The supplied inlet filters collect contaminants which
may appear on inspection despite cleaned common
rail injectors. The inlet filters must be inserted in the
injected fuel quantity inlets A to F (fig. 2, pos. 8) (note
the direction of flow of the inlet filters).
i The individual inlet filters should always remain
inserted in the same injection inlet, as the EP
software records the respective filter load at the
injection inlets. The load of the inlet filters is
displayed in the "Service Maintenance" menu of the
EP software.
3.5.6 Connecting cable 1 684 463 946
(X24 for common rail pump)
The connecting cable 1 684 463 946 connects the
connector socket X24 (fig. 2, pos. 18) of the EPS 708
with the actuator (DRV, DMV, EAV or ZME) of the
common rail pump (see Sec. 4.6).

3.5.7 High-pressure hose parts set
(special accessory)
The high-pressure hose 1 680 712 324 connects the
common rail pump to the high-pressure rail.
i The high-pressure hose 1 680 712 324, test pressure
line 1 680 750 123 and adapter nuts are included in
parts set 1687016064.

! Replace high-pressure hoses after 3 years (see date
of manufacture on high-pressure hose), even if no
safety-relevant defects are evident.
Please note the following points when connecting the
high-pressure hose:
R Before connecting, clean the sealing cone and
sealing taper of the high-pressure rail/high-pressure
pump.
R Ensure that the minimum bending radius of
r = 200 mm is observed. Small bending radii reduce
the cross-section of the high-pressure hose. The
bending radius must not start at the fitting holder,
but rather approx. 20 mm before it.
R The high-pressure hose must not come into contact
with other hoses or objects during operation.
R Always adhere to the specified tightening torque
during connection. Never overtighten the screw
connection in the event of a leak.
