12.1 Gray Chroma Map
A gray map determines the displayed brightness of an echo in relationship to its amplitude.
A Chroma Map determines the displayed Color of an echo in relationship to its amplitude.
Depending on individual requirements a "harder" or "softer" image can be obtained with this function
and can be adjusted in Read- and in Write-Mode (post-processing). The displayed gray scale wedge
corresponds to the adjusted gray map curve.
Different gray map curves can be related to a 2D image, M image, D image and 3D Volume.
To select a 2D Gray map review: 2D Gray Map

To select a 3D Gray map review: 3D Gray Map
(chapter 12.1.2)
To select a Chroma map review: Chroma Map
(chapter 12.1.4)
12.1.1 2D Gray Map
This defines the relation between echo amplitude (input) and brightness (output) in a look-up table.
In total 9 predefined and 3 user Gray Maps are available. You can select a certain map independently
for each one of the 2D-, D-, M- imaging modes (for example: Map 5 for 2D Imaging and Map 2 for
M-Imaging etc.). For 3D Gray Map selection review: 3D Gray Map.
Press the [Utilities] key regardless which mode is active.
Operation:
1. Select [Gray/Chroma]. The “Gray Chroma” menu will appear.
2. Select the Mode where to change the Gray Map curve.
Key bright: the Gray map selection assigned to this mode
3. Select the Gray Predefined or the Gray User
curve with the flip switch.
Return to the last active menu.
